Military man

Lincoln served in the military in 1832.

Although his stint was short, he was captain of the 31st Regiment, Illinois Militia, during the Black Hawk War. He never saw combat during his tour, but he did help bury the dead in the aftermath of two of the war's battles.

Mustered in and out of service, Lincoln found his way in the captain role and private role. He finished his service with Capt. Jacob Early's independent spy company.
